Unable to connect. Please restart your client! CROSSPLAY

A friend and I are trying to connect on a world. They are playing on Nintendo switch and I am playing on XBOX. We have tried everything offered to get this to work I.e. power cycling, restarting consoles and routers, uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I have read all of the previously posted issue of the same name but there does not appear to be a crossplay fix. Please advise!
