Save and exit not working properly.

Whenever I save and exit the game and play later, the game isn't saved at the point I saved the game, but items used are consumed. I was healing zombie villagers, and twice had 4 golden apples and 4 potions used, but the villager trades were at full cost, and the apples and potions were consumed.
