Bedrock multiplayer removed all items on join

I had full netherite and a bunch of loot in my friends world but one day when I joined in I was at world spawn with nothing on default permissions as if I had never joined. Mojang has to put more work into bedrock edition instead of forcing players to buy a 1000 dollar pc to play the version that works.
