All chunks unloaded in end and I was confined to a one by one pillar over the void in a realm

I was flying in the end when I hit a chunk wall, these usually aren’t a problem because you can turn back but when I did I didn’t go anywhere. I was looking and my coordinates and noticed that no matter which direction I went, only my y coordinate was changing. I went through 30 rockets over the course of two minutes and then I fell down the one by one pillar I was stuck in and died in the void. I’m confused because it wasn’t even a usually sized chunk I was stuck in. I lost everything and there was nothing I could do about it.
