Freezing in certain biomes

My game starts to freeze up and stutter in certain biomes, such as the mangrove swamp or the dark oak/roofed forest. The freezing is even affected when I am in other biomes but near one of the above-mentioned biomes; the closer I get to the mangrove swamp or the roofed forest, the worse the problem gets.
