"shift" or sneak button not working for construction

the "shift" button is not working for building with interactive items like chests and trapdoors. This is making some building types like placing signs or frames in front of chests impossible or just making the building process more difficult and annoying
As you can see in the beginning of the video too, the player's aim is inaccurate when placing blocks. If you aim too high on the block the block is placed on top instead of the side where it was being aimed.
