I cant craft any tools in minecraft 1.19 bedrock edition

i cannot craft tools in survival mode in bedrock, i can access them in creative but no matter what i do i cannot cannot craft them in survial
i tried checking my individual mods, then tried with no mods, nothing has worked
i really would like to play but or some reason i cannot
