Trapped in boat. Cant exit or destroy

I got in my boat and everything worked fine, but when I was ready to get out, I clicked the right thumb stick and nothing happened. I tried the left thumb stick, and nothing happened. I proceeded to press every button on my controller, and even tried some button combinations, but couldn't get out of my boat. I tried to punch the boat and destroy it, but it was destroying the blocks underneath the boat in the shallow water. I I got killed by a drowned, and then when I came back to get all of my dropped items, like a moron, I got back in the boat. I don't know why I thought it was just a glitch that would not happen again, but I got back in the boat and was trapped again and now there are no nearby enemies to get me out of the boat. Dying is the only way out.
