Villagers won't assign to career blocks?

After curing a zombie villager, my games will automatically assign a job to a villager after curing them, but will not allow me to assign them to another job block. I've tried all methods for getting them to change jobs and there is no bed anywhere near the area for them to pathfind to. Any solutions?
