Hasitem filter does not accept custom item names

When I use the hasitem filter and try to reference an item that I have named using @p[hasitem\{item="custom name"}] I receive an error stating the custom name is not recognized. When I look at the bedrock dev page it states that hasitem filter accepts custom item names.
