Education Edition code builder won't run on iPad 10th Gen

On the iPad 10th Gen, with iOS 16.2 and Minecraft Education Edition v1.18.45 - the latest available for both at this time - I try to run the tutorial for raining chickens using the drag and drop code blocks and it does not produce any result when I submit the configured command in the chat. I tried the same tutorial on an iPad 8th Gen using the same OS and app versions and it worked as expected. I have tried reinstalling Minecraft Education Edition and tried signing in again, but it makes no difference. I have also tried other tutorials and simple code, but no luck. Everything I try works on the 8th Gen but not on the 10th Gen. Thank you in advance!
