No input in main menu bug spreading between accounts

For over a year I've been experiencing a glitch on my main account where when I load up minecraft I can't select any options in the main menu at all I can move the cursor around no problem. The problem resolves itself sometimes but always comes back.

recently I started playing on an alternate account to try and fix the problem which worked for 2 days until the game closes itself and the glitch showed up on the alternate account
