Server Ruining XP glitch

Players in my realm are using a xp glitch, it is gamebreaking and it ruins the progression.

How it works: People smelt 1 item in any kind of furnace, when its done smelting they grab another stack of the same item and start clicking the smelted item and they get the xp from the smelting process repeatedly for everytime they click.
