falling sand and gravel when falling on torch bug

So I don't have the bug where falling sand or gravel disappears. But when I "mine" it with a torch, it will just disappear without dropping anything. Also I believe the glitch where falling sand or gravel disappears is apple devices only. This is because when a friend joined my game, he stopped having the glitch.
