Pulse shortener with piston and sand won't work with repeaters or comparators

If you try to create a redstone pulse shortener with piston and use a repeater or comparator to send the power to the redstone, it won't work and I think it might be a bug or something not intentional.

This doesn't happen if you use buttons, levers, redstone torches etc.
