The new execute command doesn't work as intended

I'm not sure how to explain this bug so heres an example of what I'm doing. I'm trying to make chickens nammed "loot" constantly telleport to themselves so they cant move by using the command /execute as @e[type=chicken,name=loot] run tp @s ~ ~ ~. When I do this, the chickens get teleported to the command block that runs the command instead.
