Unable to unmute/unblock players

This issue isnt happening on my end but to my account. My friend accidentally muted me, or the game muted me for some reason one time and now cant unmute me. They flick the switch off and then when they go back on my profile I am muted again and we cant see any chat messages from eachother which is very annoying. I am using the Windows version of minecraft and they are using the Nintendo Switch version. We dont play on serers just the built in multiplayer on eachothers worlds.
