Can't breed horses

I'm trying to breed 2 horses, (they're both tamed and have saddles) and when I right-click them with wheat, nothing happens. I did not feed them before they were tamed because I thought that was the problem when I tried to breed 2 different horses before. You have to take my word for it, it might just be an error on my end, but I don't know. The screenshot I attached is AFTER I right-clicked them with wheat and got off. There is no love hearts coming out of the horse.
EDIT: Never mind, I fed I horse a golden apple and love hearts came out. Wheat still doesn't work though.
