Minecraft v1.19.41 is crashing a 6th gen iPad (16.1.1) unless crash reporting is enabled

Minecraft has been crashing on my sixth generation iPad (since iOS16, I think). To make it crash the operating system:

1. Play minecraft
2. Close the cover to lock the screen
3. Wait a while
4. Try to use iPad (result: can't, it is dead. Hard reset by holding power+home for 15 seconds)

My older iPad does not have this problem.

What did not help:

• Reinstalling Minecraft
• Reinstalling iOS + Minecraft

Workarounds:

• Force quit Minecraft before locking screen

and the most interesting one of all:

• If crash reporting+analytics are enabled (I normally keep them disabled), the whole operating system does not get taken down, only Minecraft crashes!
