I'm not getting achievements

I'm trying to get achievements on my Nintendo switch and no matter what I do I'm not getting achievements I tried to get the checking inventory achievements but I can't get it are any other achievements I even checked to see it I needed to update it and it's not because I need to update it. It said I was up to date with the updates
