Xbox with keyboard and mouse chat is broken

When I am using a keyboard and mouse on my Xbox, when I open chat I cannot type until I either click on the chat box or press enter to open up the default controller typing keyboard. Then I have to press enter when I have finished typing which will get rid of the keyboard on screen. To enter the chat message I have to either use the mouse to click on the send button. If I press enter it will just reopen the keyboard thing and everything will be selected so I need to use the arrow key to move the text cursor to the end to deselect everything to continue typing.

This never used to be an issue because I was always able to just open chat, type in whatever I wanted to send, and then press enter to send.

Please fix this.
