Crafting uses your whole inventory in one go

When crafting an item like torches you use to click the torches multiple times until you crafted how many you wanted instead now you click it once and it automatically uses all of the resources in your inventory to make as many as you have enough resources for. I’m unsure if this is a bug or it supposed to be this way.
