Not able to save new worlds/when I go into old worlds they disappear after saving and quitting

Whenever I create a new world, it will load up normally but once I save and quit it's not in my worlds list. If I try to play other worlds previously created, they disappear after saving and quitting. The game is essentially unplayable for me now, and has been for a month or so.
