Dying mobs crash the entire game and makes it impossible for the world to be playable

I was building my base when suddenly a zombie burned from the sun as it was turning into daytime. The moment the zombie died, the entire game crashed. As I tried to log back in to my old world, it would always crash during the loading screen.
