Player will get stuck on loading screen after gping through portal, upon restart will die or end up hundreds of blocks away

When  I went though one of my 8 portals I got stuck on the loading screen which has happened before. The first time I had to restart and my character died, the second time I spawned in the walls of a bastion hundreds of blocks away from my nether base where i suffocated in the wall. This time I tried waiting it out after about 20 minutes I asked my dad if he could find my character using a map, he could and traveled to where I was at spawn floating. Mobs were trying to attack me and a creeper had blown up underneath me. I could not hear any of this on my side. We saved and quit expecting me to lose all my things again but thankfully I was alive with all my things. Its possible waiting a bit kept me where i was instead of sending me somewhere else? Im not sure but the ticket i read for this same issue was marked as resolved so I dont really know whats going on
