When hitting a player or a block and placing a crystal it is delayed and doesnt work a lot

When hitting a player or a block and placing a crystal (while on keyboard and mouse on xbox) it had a delay or sometimes doesnt even place. I tested it with a player and hit them then tried placing a crystal and quite often it lagged or didnt place. i play a pvp using crystals and not being able to hit players and place them puts me at a disadvantage
