Building a tower by jumping and placing blocks underneath the player character damages or kills them

In 1.19.22 jumping and placing a block to build towers worked as it's supposed to, in 1.19.30 building a 1x1 tower higher than 5 blocks from the ground can damage the player character and kills them if they keep doing it, sometimes the air meter appears over the heath bar for about half a second, building a 2x2 tower and staying in the middle will let the player reach Y:321 from Y:63.
