Unable to join a friend

My friend is trying to join my mcpe world, but it keeps on saying ‘unable to connect to world’. We have tried everything- signing out then in, making new worlds etc but none worked. This issue has happened ever since I bought the app but we always got on after a few tries but this time we just can’t.
