NPCs missing in Lightyear DLC

NPC characters that are supposed to spawn in and accompany you through the first mission never show up. I have reinstalled the DLC pack and Minecraft itself to no effect. Included pictures are my game in the start of the first mission (sans astronauts), and a screenshot of gameplay off of YouTube with the NPCs spawning in properly.
