Game crashes/ freezes when using redownloaded texture packs

When using texture packs in general and I go to the menu/ go into a world, the game freezes and I have to force close it

steps to reproduce:

1: Go into the Minecraft settings

2: delete some texture packs

3: redownload them from the marketplace 

4: load up a world or menu with the texture pack enabled
