Jungle leaves invisible on one side

I have noticed that jungle leaves do not seem to render their graphic if only a single row of pixels are expected to show. Thus creates a sort of spectator effect.

To reproduce:

Place jubgle leaves.

Place dirt beside the leaves.

Transform the dirt into dirt path using a shovel.

Expected result: The leaves are visible on all sides.

Observed result: The leaves are only visible on the top.
