Device incompatible with kindle fire

Purchased pocket edition on a kindle fire in 2013. As of yeaterday it would not install any updates. Attempted to remove from device and reinstall and now I get a pop up warning that says that it is incompatible with my device. Still shows up in the cloud to install to decice.I'm using a 1st generation kindle fire. Thanks and sorry if system version isn't correct.
