Invitory dissappeared

I was collecting sand stone had half an invitory of full stacks

Saved world and left when going to rejoin later i noticed that the picture of saved world was gone like i havent saved world yet and when i rejoined my invitory was completely empty i looked around to see if i died some how when i was offline but nothink i went into creative and tryed the recovery compass (even though im not sure how it works) and it kept bringing me back to where i left but no items an hour of work gone
