Version is up to date but won't create game

Ok let's try this again. My game IS up to date! It updated right before i tried to play. No updates are available. Game has new interface!  I can not create new worlds, I also found I can not re-download resource/texture packs that are saved to my account. I also can not seem to load any current games. It just flashes a small black screen for a half second and then nothing.
