Cannot craft planks or eat

Since today's update, I can not eat anything while holding a food item and showing empty hunger bars. I also can not craft wood planks with or without using a crafting table or in the simple crafting menu. I've restarted my Xbox several times, and I've tried creating brand new worlds without any luck. I've come to a complete halt with any game play. If there are other bugs, I can't find them because I'm starving and unable to craft simple wood planks.
