Unable to type characters to sign

Using xoom tablet. In game, creation of sign offers area to type but the keyboard is unusable (pressing a character results in no input to sign). When leaving sign character input, a empty sign is created. Prior to the 6.1 patch, the program would crash at input or leaving the input screen (this was fixed with the 6.1 patch).

Xoom operating system is up to date with latest OS.
