Can’t mine too fast without getting stuck in blocks

Was mining through nether rack with a diamond efficiency iv pickaxe when the game started saving and I was suddenly stuck inside blocks and started taking damage since they did not register that I actually mined them due to performance issues I was 20 about blocks out from my tunnel
