Outline Selection doesn't work

Outline Selection stopped working.

This feature has always been enabled in the settings and worked fine before the update, and then suddenly stopped. Blocks, etc simply stopped being outlined. Just bare blocks under the crosshair without anything.

Shaders and texture packs are not installed, so what could be the problem...
