Autosave causing blocks to not be placed or be broken

Its really bad because the game autosaves so often. Sometimes im building a bridge to close a gap and randomly fall and die because my character stops placing blocks. I look up and see the autosave icon at the top right of screen and noticed its there everytime my ability to place or mine blocks starts acting weird. Sometimes the autosave icon shows up around 3 seconds later but most of the time its there and when i try to build with it, things start acting weird

 

Please help, i cant disable autosave and it really makes the game a pain to play when i fall into a lava pit or something and lose all my xp and gear ☹️
