Villagers won't pick up food so they can breed

Most of the time my villagers won't pick up food I gave them or other villagers give them so they can breed. They are happy villagers with jobs, beds, and places to walk to. They are not in a one by two slot. I think this showed up when the mini update happen for 1.18.30 or 1,18,31. I wanted wait on the report on the bug in case the bug fix was in the update. On the same update my iron farm stopped working. I opened another world and tried many ways to pass out food to every villager with different jobs and different setups with no luck. I also tried this with the iron farm. I am handing over the torch to smarter people.
