Flying machine does damage

I made an elevator out of a flying machine on my realm, and going down was not an issue. But traveling up seemed to present a problem as I would randomly take 1-3 hearts of damage, regardless of if I crouched or not, or where I was located. I have a screen recording of it but it appears to be too large to attach to this, though I would be happy to send it another way
