Lighting bug

Lighting glitch on Motorola Droid. Its like the world is constantly dark and you can only see 10 blocks or so of light (see attached pictures). Playing around with the brightness settings does not work, both game brightness and device screen brightness, and changing render distance and other video settings does not help.
