Changing slot when typing in chat

When you have an item at the 9 inventory slot and open the chat to type a command or just simply chat with your friends the game changes the selected slot from 9 to 8. This is really annoying when you are trying to use the /enchant command. If you have the item to the 9th slot it will change and you have to type it again.
