Touch bug

I use a controller on my iPad for Minecraft. I used to use the touchscreen, but my old iPad broke and I started playing on the Xbox. I got a new iPad and used a controller because I had been playing on console for a few months and was used to it. But anyways, I usually use the touchscreen for searching blocks in the inventory. but starting recently, my controller wouldn't work other than walking around or breaking blocks . I'd touch the screen, but the touch controls don't appear. Id open the pause menu, but is wouldn't select anything because the controller just wouldn't work and I couldn't select anything. I have to just close minecraft and reopen it, which just takes a long time. It's been happening since probably 1.18 released
