Mobs disappear when sent through a nether portal in Bedrock

Mobs disappear when I try to send them through nether portals. I've been trying to send striders through a portal and they disappear when they are sent through. 
I pushed striders through the portal and they don’t spawn on the other side. I’ve even tried to ride them through and giving them name tags and they still despawn.
