Player Placed Leaves Are Decaying

I built a raid farm and used leaves to prevent mobs from spawning on the ground, however after a while of afk-ing I found out that the leaves I placed on the ground disappeared, I placed all the leaves by hand and I got the leaves from using shears to mine the leaves on the trees
