Smithing table won't upgrade gear to netherite

I am using a smithing table to turn my diamond gear into netherite, I put my diamond weapon in the left box, my netherite ingots in the middle, and nothing pops up in the right box. The arrow has the red line through it. I just want netherite gear! Please fix this soon!!
