Freeze when more than 5 mobs in one place

Whenever I try to approach a group of mobs more than 5 or 6 the game freeezes for 2 to 3 minutes at a time. Sometimes crashes completely. This especially happened around my farms with cows, sheep, chickens. But even if there are too many villagers or zombies etc.
