World suddenly unplayable

Suddenly my single player world wouldn't let me pick up blocks, then I couldn't open my inventory or interact with crafting tables nor chests, then I couldn't break blocks or interact with my world at all. This all escalated within a few minutes time span. I created a backup for my world, then uninstalled and reinstalled the game only to have the same problem. Then I tried copying the world folder and playing on the copy. Same problem. I'm not sure what else to try at this point, but I would love to have that world back since I have hundreds of hours on it. 

I also tried putting it in creative mode but after a second of me being in game all of the same problems arose.
