mob spawning is not good

hostile mobs (slimes and magma slimes in particular) are spawning way too much. This makes exploring caves and the nether extremely difficult! Peaceful mobs (sheep in particular) keep on dying and are very difficult to find. 

this causes us to rely on villager trading for food.
